When I am in the tropics I eat a few paw-paw seeds to kill intestinal
parasites that I may pick up - particularly worms. I eat four or five a day
and have never suffered any ill effects.

Further to what Jordan says, PFAF says the seeds contain toxic
alcaloids, and are emetic (i.e., make you barf):
