I have a big problem with the idea of solving a problem with another problem. Ethanol is another pipe-dream that prolongs and accelerates the destructive practice of monocropping our top soil out of existence. If we planted corn wall to wall throughout the corn belt of the U.S. we wouldn't be able to replace our _current _addiction to petrochemicals plus we would have to fertilize using the missing petrochemicals. The only solution that I see to peak oil reality is to find alternatives to our energy use, get rid of the individual vehicle, use passive solar heat for you home, stop flying, buy within your bioregion and etc. It means a major shift in life style and expectations - nothing else is realistic.

How to Beat the High Cost of Gasoline. Forever!
Stop dreaming about hydrogen. Ethanol is the answer to the energy dilemma. It's clean and green and runs in today's cars. And in a generation, it could replace gas.
