Eugene;

A lined pond is not a septic drainfield. Bamboo rhizomes are not known to
penetrate septic tanks and send culms up thru drainfield pipes.
HOWEVER-------------
your posting confirms what I have been telling people not to do for years-
plant bamboo next to a pond with a flexible liner. I thank you for sharing
your bad time.

Once again I repeat & reiterate:
I have never heard of a case of bamboo interfering with a septic drainfield
in a way that would impair performance. I have heard reports that it
IMPROVES the performance of a drainfield, and I have SEEN that it improves
the performance of the bamboo.
