He he he. But of course! My question though has more to do with timber log
prices. Generally forester tells me that you make most money from trees that
are over 21" in diameter. Most poplars here grow straight and tall. Very few
seem to get to 21" in diameter. So it seems I need to compromise, and find a
diameter that still makes good economic sense.

I doubt you will get much for poppler, but look into what they are paying. In some areas it is used like pine for light framing. I suppose they make engineered lumber from it too. I think shooting for large poplars runs some risk of them rotting out and dieing. I would be much more concerned with developing larger valuable hardwoods; oaks, maples and even black locust which is getting to be a popular wood for rot resistant applications as pressure treated wood gets banned.
