What I read (on this list, a couple of years ago) is that jostaberry refers
to any hybrid (between black currant and gooseberry, as I recall) and they
vary widely in quality. Someone developed some good ones and popularized
the name, but since then others have sold all sorts of hybrids, some with
little or no merit.
