I am curious about the difference between the rabbiteye blueberries of the

Pete,
I grow both types, as well as some of the Southern highbush types.
The rabbiteye plants grow larger and are more productive than the northern highbush types, here. The northern highbush types have sweeter berries - but that may be a function of variety, moreso than type - my bearing-age rabbiteyes are some that my dad rooted for me, and I have no idea what variety(I'm pretty sure they're all the same) they are. I know that in his patch back home, there was significant difference in fruit size/taste/appearance, as he had at least 4-5 different named selections planted.
I do have some younger rabbiteye varieties planted & growing, but no berries yet.
For the most part, my current rabbiteyes ripen later than the northern highbush types, so they extend the season nicely.

I live in
south-central MS (Poplarville) and the berries here get big as a small
marble and are quite good. Has anyone eaten these and the Northern ones and
will they tell if the taste is different...and how??? We have just finished
the Blueberry Jamboree here on Sat..... the berries are celebrated here as
lots of people grow them and they do very well in the area.
Our ground is very clayey and hi acid.
Thanks
Pete Z8 South MS
