- Subject: [NAFEX] Let new grafts set fruit?
- Date: Fri, 29 Apr 2005 01:04:11 +0000
In spring '03 I topworked some pollinizers into a mature pear tree, to supply cross-fertilization and (I hope) better fruit set. Some of these grafts are flowering this spring. Do I leave these flowers on, to mature their own fruits? Does this risk breaking the graft union, reducing future growth above the graft, or any other problems to consider? Thanks for input.
