sounds like oversized mice going at it. If they get too rambunctious, it's

them than raccoons, as they stay out of my fruit trees, but the raccons will
climb and break small limbs.

What do you do about the coons?
They are terrible here.
Take a bite out of each apple and move on.
Break the branchs off.
Generally a pest.
We seem to have no skunks.
