Hello All,
This has been an interesting thread. I come down on the side of genetic
variation. I've used P. americana as a stock for the Russian Myrobalan
plums and also tried it last year on a sour cherry (so far so good). I mow
my orchard and just leave an occasion batch of sprouts, graft them one year
and dig them the next. So far so good. I can see where without regular
mowing those sprouts could be a serious problem.
