I once met a Schipperke, a small dog origionally kept on working canal
barges in Belgium, which kept 5 acres gopher-free. I've been on many
homesteads where such a dog would be considered an invaluable asset. I
fondly remember Glen Mill's Home Orchard Society gopher education display
which included the lower section of a ten-year old dwarf apple which looked
as if it had been stuck in a giant pencil sharpener root-end first.
Anyway, size isn't everything, dog!
