Title: Re: [NAFEX] misting chambers
Hard water might not hurt the leaves, depending on the minerals (mostly it won't hurt that much), but it will wreak havoc with the mist emitters.   The holes are very fine and would clog quickly.  Hard water might also make the rooting medium too alkaline.  I've lived in places where the hard water made the soil alkaline to the extent that you were better off mulching heavily and not watering any more than absolutely necessary.  Otherwise the plants showed chlorosis from lack of iron in the alkaline soil.
There used to be place in California, Ag Specialties, that sold a type of mister that used a thing like a fan to break the water into mist.  It was very wa ter efficient and didn't need a water line - you could run it most of the day on a gallon jug of water hooked up to it.  If that device is still around, it would make a great mister without having to do a lot of plumbing.

one more thought Tom or Lon
Would water from a dehumidifier be even a touch better?
