Hi,
We all must keep in mind that the degree of infestation varies, not only
from local to local, but season to season.
The groundhogs in your area may have plenty of wild food to eat,
for a number of years, resulting in a bumper crop of groundhogs. Then
something comes along (drought) that interrupts their food supply. The
groundhogs will then turn to food supplies that may be your crops.
When these conditions arise, and food pressure is high there is little
that is effective in control, other than killing the rodent/pest/etc.
So what may work for one, will do little good somewhere else, and if your
conditions change, they may no longer work for you.
This topic is as subjective as taste.
Later,
Tom
