On a similar note, I once tried to kill poison ivy by pouring boiling water over it. It killed the plant, but the air was full of a strong scent (quite pleasant, in a spinachy sort of way) and it suddenly occurred to me that I was probably volatilizing the toxin.
I was not hurt, but I may not be susceptible - I've never had poison ivy. At any rate, it was a really dumb thing to do, and I won't do it again.
But I understand why goats like to eat it. I bet it tastes good for a leave vegetable.
Also, if you chose to try to dig it out: this method works well for younger plants, but you have to tease the roots out gently, to get as much as possible. Poison ivy stores nutrients underground in tubers (or something like that) and if you leave lumpy bits of root behind, it grows back pretty quickly.
I cleared out the old stuff with herbicide when I moved in, but have kept it from regrowing by pulling it out. I usually catch the seedlings, which are very easy to pull. Occasionally, I miss something for a year or two, then I wear disposable rubber gloves, and wash well when I'm done. I'm told that if you don't want to throw away the gloves, you should use cotton, as it's almost impossible to clean the oil off of rubber or leather gloves.

I guess everyone knows not to burn poison ivy?? The smoke, even from a long

My understanding is tha Roundup biodegrades rapidly after it is mixed withwater.
If you leave some in the sprayer all mixed for a few days you will find itdoes not work anymore.
A normal spraying of 2-4-D washes into the soil and will migrate withinthe soil over a long period of time, but tests have shown that it moves very
slowly and in a normal soil (not sand) it will be many years before any
shows up in the water table.

2,4-D is more effective than the much pricier glyphosate

One question that bounces around in my head is what happens after you
Roundup first came up it was supposed to "bind to the soil particles", this
doesn't make me overly comfortable, but perhaps it prevents it from washing
into streams or the water table.

2,4-D is highly toxic to grapes, and it can, under certain atmospheric
driven drift at the time of spraying). Since it is a broad-leafed weed
killer, it has been popular for corn.
