I was an Red Cross Instructor Trainer for Advanced First Aid and am an
instructor for first responder-- there are significant differences in
content between the two. Much of advanced first aid dealt with very long
term care without support but in civilization (like a fallout shelter) while
first responder added CPR, oxygen, manufactured splints and cervical spine
injuries.

Each state defines its own scope of practice and titles. PA uses the FedDoT
EMT which includes AED and CPR. It also includes auto extrication.
Licensed ambulance crews consist of a driver and 1 or more EMTs for basic
and 1 or more paramedics and 1 or more EMTs for advanced (supposed to be 3
on an advanced crew).
