Hi Dana, Our clinic fills up very fast, so be sure to get your application in as soon as you can. On the MSAR list Jorene listed some of the other ideas I had. Plus a personal friend of mine (from outside my unit life) does clinics. His name is Jerry Tindell you can go to his website but I think he is full for the year. Some times members of our unit will travel to do a clinic for other units with the fees going as a fund raiser to our unit.
If you give me some history maybe I can help you more. Is there any other regular SAR units in your area? Are you part of the Sheriff's Dept? We have ground, canine and mounted in our unit, because we realized it takes more then horses to do it right and horses don't get called enough in CA to keep everyone's interest up. We follow all OES guide lines and so our members must be qualified ground searchers before they can start training with their horses. That can be very hard for the horse people (may take a year +) but other wise, they don't get the training needed to be a real searcher and are just out on a trail ride and become a liability.

Are you looking for search training using horses (this is for the rider) or just horse training (meaning you have SAR training in place for you members).?

Again, tell me your history, and ideas and I will be glad to help you. Are you brand new? meaning no nonprofit status yet, etc or where and what is going on?
