We take EBT and debit/cc at our main FM tent. We issue wooden coins with our logo and merchants exchange them for payment at the end of each market. We were fortunate to get a matching grant fro Wholesome Wave and this year, our first year with this system we have generated close toover $30,000 in sales that we would have missed otherwise. EBT can only be spent on food so the crafters/artists have benefited from the debit/cc part only. We have about twenty farmers in our mix who have shared well over $20,000 in sales from EBT. We "ain't goin back to livin that old life no more".

The saturday market i go to takes credit cards on behalf of all the vendors who do not take them (around 80% of us). The market has "green backs" that are good at any vendor's stand at this market and the market manager will convert credit/debit card credit into green backs. This system seems to be working very well for the market. Our weekly fee covers the costs of the card company

We also have something like 25 ATM's within 3 blocks of this market.
