The fact is that many people just don’t carry cash anymore its not just credit cards its debit cards… I havnt written physical check in many years. I think it is important to be able to meet the customers normal mode of payment.

Maybe it is just me, but I think this striving to meet the regular retail establishments will destroy the image of what a Farmers Market has tried to niche itself into. I don't think that creating an image and association between the farmer/back to rural/connectiveness to nature or source can be enhanced by taking credit cards. This mindset isn't appealing to me at all.

 

This pursuit could ultimately change the face of Farmers Markets and turn them into just another produce section to compete with grocery stores like Whole Foods.
