Beth, there are three different sizes (for the row cover sizes)--3 ft, 4 ft, and 6 ft. Those sizes are the distances between the two legs, so they measure the width that the finished hoop will cover.

FYI, I just attended a "Low-Cost Hoophouse Workshop" put on by the Kerr Center for Sustainable Agriculture (Oklahoma) last weekend where we (mostly watched) construction of a 20' hoophouse made with a similar bender.  Personally, I think it would work better than the large (20') bender the Lost Creek website sells because it is designed to work with square steel tubing vs. the round tubing this guy's bender uses. Using square tubing prevents the "twisting" problem that he talks about that requires you to cut the round tubing in half.  After constructing my own pre-fab hoophouse, I know how difficult those twists can be to work out once you get them in there.  (Didn't help that I was re-constructing a used hoophouse.)  I don't remember for sure, but I think my bender WILL work with round tubing, too, but they used and recommended the square tubing at the workshop because of the twisting issue.  Anyway, you can find detailed plans for that low-cost hoophouse here: http://kerrcenter.com/publications/hoophouse/index.htm  The guy who built that bender sells them for $125--it's very sturdy, nicely welded and powder-coated.  He's trying to get Peaceful Valley to carry them as he's not interested in messing with the shipping, etc., but for now I think he's selling them.  I bought one at the workshop.  His contact information is in that handout.  His name is Tod Handley.

I received some unexpected money for being a program speaker and I went ahead and bought one from http://www.lostcreek.net/rowcoverbenders3999.html This is the same ones Johnny's sells for half the price and no shipping. I just got it last Friday. I am really wanting to try it out.  Just an idea.

I figured $40 was worth my time to build one.

Anyone built their own jig to bend the 10 foot EMT to 6 foot hoop?  We just did one for half a 6 foot circle, but the conduit jumps back out much larger when we release it.  Anyone know the proper size for the jig?  Thank you.
