Here if it rains for weeks on end, that's when there *is* time to clean house.

We've got enough clay in the soils that, if they're saturated, we really have to stay out of the fields; if they're wet enough, even foot pressure is enough to risk turning the soil into clay pots. I've always got a "wet list"; though it's liable to start with catching up paperwork and cleaning garlic, cleaning the house gets onto it someplace.

(Hey, this topic is even livelier than the manure/gap thread! -- possibly because we don't have to do any research before posting on it.)

Me, I think. I've been known to say, Time to either sweep the kitchen
floor, or rake it and plant lettuce.

It doesn't generally get deep enough to plant carrots . . .
