I only have two experiences. The first was several years ago, I offered a working share. I forget the percentage, but this was when I boxed things up and dropped shares off in town, so I couldn’t control whether they took a share or not. They never showed up (made lots of appointments to come) and I didn’t offer a working share again. This past summer I had a gentleman show up every week for 2 hours before distribution (I now set up farmstand style and let them pick out their veggies) and volunteer to help. He mostly washed potatoes since that is what I seemed to be holding to the last minute. I am offering him a half price share $250 vs $500) next year. He might even volunteer again, and I offered him some treats that others didn’t get, raspberries, etc, but mostly he just volunteered. I feel better offering him a half price share, and it establishes a precedent that I offer working shares to those who have proven their reliability as volunteers.

Hello everyone,

I have a question for you CSA people. How do you figure hours worked for a share? For example I have a peoson who wants to work for 1/2 the share price and I don't know how many hours she should expect to work The past couple of years I haven't really had to deal with this but this year seems different. I guess I'm looking for an hourly wage. Any thoughts?

Thanks

dave
