We also have a shoebox/refrigerator setup that works fine. Our boxes are labeled according to our rotational crop structure (greens, brassicas, legumes, solanacea, etc.)  That way, we can easily plan and plant each rotation block of our 7-acre garden.

But I'm wondering how folks reseal packets so they don't get stuck with a mystery lettuce mix in the bottom of the shoe boxes! I've tried Scotch tape (a bother), paper clips,  folding, and a few other imaginative techniques (all undependable), All I can think of now is zip lock bags.

We do the plastic shoebox thing, too, Marie.  We've got separate boxes for
vegetables, herbs and flower seeds, and within each box simple cardstock
dividers to alphabetize the seeds.  The boxes are all kept in an old but
working fridge in the shop.  I took pics today, you can see them on my blog

Regards to the List:

Here I sit, at the dining room table, surrounded by packets of seeds.
There's a huge pile for direct seeding in May, a pile of peas for April,
greens, lettuces, herbs, some that might be outdated, new ones . . . the
list goes on and on.

How do you keep all the seeds straight? Some of these might end up like my
garlic did this winter - forgotten or lost. I think I need to figure out a
system to keep track of the seeds we have other than in shoeboxes stacked
inside a big tote and put in the basement.

Any advice?
