To keep me from forgetting things there's a Planting Schedules list, which goes on for several pages, and is checked each week when I redo the Things to Work On this Week list. (yes, I do indeed spend rather too much time doing lists. but it does keep me from doing things such as entirely forgetting to plant any of the crops.)

I keep this huge wall calendar on the wall near the kitchen. As I plan the garden I write things down in the corresponding boxes for the dates I plan to do them, whether it be seed starting indoors or outdoors, planting out, etc. I also refer back to last year's calendar and adjust dates as needed (like next year I plan to start my onions 2 wks earlier) when filling in the to-do list pre-season.

My Dad gets me for Christmas a really big calendar (like 1.5x the size of a desk blotter); it's costly, but it's his gift to me. Barring that, $1 calendars from the Dollar Store would work, too, but I'd need a few of them because writing space would be limited.
