I have been told/read that it may be more economical to grow transplants at
higher temps for less time. I don't have a temperature chart, and only found
a few accessible articles in a Google search, but I'm sure there must be
information out there documenting it.
I haven't figured out the appropriate key phrase for Google. I did find
this:

culture_Crops_by_Runkle.pdf
And this, both flowers

best_spring_crops_by_Runkle.pdf
OK, here is more usable and eye-opening info, though still on flowers:

I did a quick search and got this article on flower bedding plants:
http://www.gpnmag.com/Temperature-and-Light-on-Bedding-Plants-article4259
And one on tomatoes: http://www.imok.ufl.edu/veghort/docs/height_121302.pdf
I have notes that say that if SOME varieties of tomatoes are exposed to
night temps less than 50 in their first week, (but not freezing), they will
flower sooner and their internodes will be shorter. My notes say not to try
this with Trust tomato though. And with some varieties this will result in
cosmetic problems on the first few fruits.
