Here are a few links that explain it really in detail. aggie-horticultre has a really wonderfull SEARCH feature where they will give you answers about every aspect of it. Just go to their home page.
Then I also learned a lot from OMAFRA which is the Ontario Canada goverment site.

No, Andrea, I think you said what I wanted to hear: the all too
common "Everything you know is wrong!"

Now would you mind finishing your thoughts? When should I wait for,
according to you studies? What soil temp? What night time temps? It
sounds like maybe I should push my starting date back by a month or
so. Thanks for answering.
