Betsy,
That is interesting about the clouds. I didn't know that. Thanks for
passing it on!

You are right about the variations over eons. And, although humans
haven't
kept records, the earth itself has kept records. There are ways to
determine what past years were like - through tree rings, by taking core
samples of earth, by taking core samples of ice at the pole, etc etc etc.
So, we do have some idea of what has occurred.

At the same time, the majority of scientists have concluded that
global
warming is not only imminent, but is already happening - and that it is due
to the actions of humans. They can determine this from studying the
"writings" of earth's past, and the changes that have occurred since
industrialization.

Even businesses are now starting to start to think that we must plan
our
actions and our future accordingly.

In addition, the ozone layer, which was thought to be healing, is now
noted
to be breaking down further. This has implications not only for humans
(skin cancer, etc.), but also for plants, plankton, the whole network of
life on earth.

These changes will directly affect us as growers - but also life as
we know
it here on earth.

It might or might not be too late to do anything about it, but denial
ill
only increase our challenges.

Funny you should mention that! Our local weather man just did one of his
mini-weather classes on that last night. Long contrails are cause by high
humidity in the atmosphere. The longer and thicker they are, the higher the
humidity is at high altitudes.

As for the weather being weird right now, this is pretty normal. It has been
cyclic for thousands of years. There have been worse dry spells, cold wet
springs, wet years, hot summers, deep snows, years without snow, etc. "We"
people just recently started keeping records (geologically speaking) but the
trees have been tracking these cycles for years. You name it, and "this too
shall pass."
