Hi JayGee...tnx agn for the thoughts on the subject.
Wify says I've slipped more then a cog or two..:-) when it comes to
doin' the tree thing the old way..:-)
My son...son in law..and I cut in a 1500' road here where we live five
years ago...along with clearing our house lots. The cleared part of my 3
acre lot is surrounded by big tall eastern white pine (some over a hundred
feet tall) large red oak...red maple...yellow and black birch...and a
variety of other type trees. They are like a wall around my house.
They
shade pretty hvy so the things I grow don't do as well as they could. The
roots extend into my gardens so they are a problem too. They reach out way
beyond the tree line..:-) I will probably cut the whole edge back 10 to 20
feet...and like you say thin out and cut branches on the rest. I might get
4
to 5 hours sunlight at most in the yard at this time. And your right...even
cuttin' back 20' probably won't gain me an awful lot..:-)
Don't usually wear glove JayGee...hands are kinda like shoe
leather..:-)
Only wear them when it's real cold so I don't get frost bite from our cold
Maine weather..:-) Franklin
