Sort of on the same thread-Would an aerator like the one below described
work well for making the compost tea? When reading the compost tea
literature they make a point of the proprietary systems to get oxygen into
water/compost slurry is what makes all the difference as to the helpful
microbes. Looks to me like the regular old water sprinkler from Home Depot
ought to do well at that.
Any thoughts.

Is jet fountain a specific type of aerator?

Can a simple water garden type pump, $65 at Home Depot, pushing water up
into the air, via a perforated PVC pipe, do just as well?

For a 1000 gal. stock tank, any idea as to GPH or GPM needed?

Thanks,

Van

Subject: Re: [Market-farming] Irrigation

Farmers in the southern half of our state often aerate the water to remove
the iron. They pump from the well into an open pond, where the water is sent
through a jet fountain. As the water is intensely exposed to air, the iron
precipitates out as iron-oxide. The water becomes safe to use through drip
irrigation.
