Yes, rhubarb leaves are poisonous. If you try to eat Burdock, I would
think that the fuzzy stems would be poisonous as well.
Something was killing my rhubarb roots. Last year I transplanted roots
to a new patch and they all seem to be growing this spring. Does anyone
know what might have caused the problem? I suspected that the yellow
dock close by may have been the problem. Elaine Ingram suggested that I
mulch with straw rather than manure. I know that strawberries and
asparagus should not be planted close to each other, but previously I
have had asparagus and rhubarb close together without adverse effects; so
I don't think this is my problem.
My favorite recipe is Glorified Rhubarb. I cook the following together
and while it is a little warm pour it over frozen or fresh strawberries.
2 cups water
1 cup sugar
4 cups of rhubarb
1/4 cup tapioca
