I bought both the pump 'n' seal device itself and the additional metal plates that allow you to pull a vacuum on a china or glass bowl, to keep salads fresh. Both work very well, and I can recommend them unconditionally. As I said, the only problem with using plastic bags is that the procedure is a but fussy (you have to put a line of vegetable oil along the lip of the bag to hold the seal while you vacuum out the air--it works, but it's not as easy and quick as using mason jars).
