A teaspoon of silver colloid in the vegy wash water, let soak about 10 minutes and the literature says the vegies are OK to eat raw.   Off the ground fruit juice squeezins -  add a TSP SC per gallon.  Again literature  says that makes it safe.   We've been doing it for several years.  Helps preserve the flavor.  Of course before I eat our off the ground apples I always wipe em off on my jeans,  Bob

picking up and eating fruit 'drops' is an opportunity to ingest animal manures, depending the setting (remember the Odwalla juice ecoli dilemma?), tho' plenty of us do it.  as to critters pooping on fruit, depends upon whether the critters in question are meat eaters or not.
