Simple answer:  don't work, don't eat.

All we're promised is food and clothing, so my labor is worth something to eat, something to wear and and the contentment from doing so.

The proverb of the ant also applies: 25 Ants are creatures of little strength,
yet they store up their food in the summer.

Seems to me trying to convert everything into dollar amounts just isn't the right thing to do anymore.  yes, for budgeting and stewardship, it is good to have an idea of this, but in the end the things that matter the most aren't able to be bought or sold.
