It's "pop" in MN and, hence, the term I grew up using.
The whole "Coke" thing threw me off while visiting Texas once. My obvious question was, "What if you want a Pepsi?". The answer: ask for a Pepsi Coke. The poor Pepsi marketing dept. obviously has an uphill battle in the grand 'ol state of Texas.
Years later, while visiting Orlando I stopped by a fast-food restaurant. Not knowing the proper Floridian terminology to use when ordering my beverage I went with the ambiguous "Coke" term, instead of my default "pop". I asked her which word they use since a) I was curious and b) the girl behind the counter was really cute and wanted to start a conversation. I was informed that "most people called it soda, sometimes Coke, and then occassionally we get the 'real hicks' in here who call it pop". That cute little fast food girl caused me to never use the term "pop" again. :)

I dunno. I never heard the term pop used until I came south. It was

I never heard the term "soda" until I moved out of Ohio, which its exclusively "pop". "Soda" to mean means "baking soda".
