Hi Tony,
Thank you very much for the link. I've been refraining from commenting
because I hadn't seen the ads yet.
In principle, I agree that using the 9/11 tragedy for political gain
should not be done. With regards to these specific ads (which, btw,
I watched in Safari on a Mac. :-) Even though it pains me to say it,
Dave you need to get Windows Media Player), in the "Tested" ad you
see the burned structure of the WTC on the ground for about a half
second. I don't have a problem with that. That same image appears
in the "Safer, Stronger" ad, but is then followed by what appears to
be firefighters carrying either a casket or a body draped in an
American flag. This I have a problem with. I would have the same
problem with using images of dead or wounded soldiers in a political
campaign. Those people didn't die to get George Bush reelected and
they shouldn't be used as such. In any case, I think it's in poor
taste. I understand, though, why some people could be offended by
both images.
