and ready to collect that just slightly higher tax for married couples.

I don't see how the government couldn't fix the deficit (in any county,
state or federal situation) by just taxing the hell out of marriage. You
pay a decreasing amount of tax based on the years you have been together.
Now that's some incentive for "sticking around".

And gay marriage - hell, there's a whole new revenue stream right there.

Just thinking.

Besides, marriage was long an economic proposition before it was a
religious one.
