That's certainly a possiblity. The problem would come in with what
do you do with MIME types. It would be more ideal if Mailman could
just add that to the normal footer it adds since it already knows
what to do with MIME segments. I don't think it would be that hard
to add this to mailman, but I'll defer to someone like Jon Carnes
who knows more about mailman internals than I do. :-) It seems to
me that something like this patch:

might be adapted to do what we need. The patch in question adds a
unique number to the subject of each message. It shouldn't be that
hard to put that unique number in the footer and make it as part
of a url the list-owner defines. You'd then have to associate that
number with the message, but that should be a good start. :-)
