Another issue to watch out for is an attempt to bypass eBay for the
transaction, the way this listing does. Instead of a "buy it now" option
that runs through eBay, they are asking for perspective buyers to send them
an email to conduct the transaction.

Ebay frowns on this, and will offer no assistance if you get ripped off.
People do this to avoid paying eBay their share of the sale, so you can't
blame eBay.

Apple sells a refurb version of the PowerBook for $1999.00, so at $800.00, I
find this eBay listing suspicious:
