You know, it's a funny thing about groceries for adverse weather conditions. Our first thoughts are that I will be at home for (perhaps) a long period with time on my hands. I don't want to run out of the staples. Our basket usually has ice cream, beer, wine, chips, dip, and other basics from the food groups. Other people look at our cart and wonder why they didn't think of that.
I am a native of NC and I have never run out for milk or bread except during a couple of years when I shared a house with to psychos who ate and drank everything like the world was coming to an end. Once we were able to get a car out, I made the mistake of sending one of them for beer and he came back with A&P generic beer in white cans. Crap. (We drank it anyway.) That was the time we resorted to mixing gin with iced tea which was the only thing we had left in the house.
You should make sure that you have plenty of canned things like Pork-n-Beans, hot dogs, and chocolate stuff. My sweetheart spent significant time today looking for her annual supply of peppermint ice cream. Had to go to three different stores to find it. It seems that this only comes out once a year during the holidays so she stocks up. I have no idea yet if she got me anything, but our pantry is usually decent so it looks like we are inside for the duration. Hopefully, the power and cable will not go out.
I would suggest you stay at your RTP offices if you are thinking of leaving the office for Raleigh. The Durham TV station shows the DOT cams and it looks totally clogged. It does look very, very slow, but moving.
Good luck, Roger (in Raleigh)

Quick, run to the store and get some bread and milk. It's snowing!
