I guess I am cheap, but usually enjoy my Single Malt at home or at a
friend's house. I really don't need the services, and expense of a bartender
to server me a horrendously expensive dram of the good stuff.

Something interesting Durham, however, is the bar at Four Square. They will
do tasting flights of single malt Scotch--a more economical way to get an
education. Go early, before the bartender gets busy, and use a designated
driver (you can get tanked pretty quickly).

What do you consider the good stuff? My personal favs are Lagavulin (aged 16
years) and the Balvenie Single Barrel (aged 15 years).
