Well, I knew about the dik diks. Homeschooling and curious kidlets, doncha know <g>

As to henna, used to use it back in the dark ages. Loved it except that it stinks. Of course, I have dark hair, so I could a lovely auburn with almost bright burgandy like highlights. It is a natural product, so it doesn't give you Barbie hair.

Might not do such a hot job unless you can get some "body art" henna. Most henna sold for hair use is "compound" henna and they have metallic salts in them. Compound henna plus dyed or permed hair = dead hair. As in shave your head and start over dead, brittle, breaks off, gone. If you can find "pure" or "body art" henna, then do a test patch to see if you are going to look like a stop light or a strawberry blonde or something inbetween.

Back in the day we only had the pure henna and you mixed it with lemon juice or vinegar, hence that really yucky smell. With the "pure" or "body art" hennas your hair comes out really shiney, silky and no split ends.

Since I've been bitching about the mainstream news, I thought I should provide a bit of balance.

Note that there are other news categories besides the environment.

If you have a soft spot for baby animals, try zooborns. Who knew there was an antelope called a dik dik? It is even educational!
Dik diks and aye ayes, who knew??

Some of you already know this, but in my leisure, I've decided to dye my hair red.(It is blonde now) My natural color is a medium ash blonde, but right now it is very blond because I dyed it a few months ago. I just got a wild hair<g>, had a mid-life crisis, whatever, and decided that I need a change. Red will match my skin color and my freckles. Anyway, April and I have been discussing henna. Is there anyone else on the list that uses henna to redden their hair? I'd love to hear of your choices and experiences.

Bev

SISU! (Finnish--There is no single word in English that encompasses
all that sisu means, but it combines the following ideas: guts, pep,
determination, stubbornness, perseverance, hardiness, stamina, go, do,
nerve, spunk, pluck, and grit. It's like "Just Do It!" & "Go for It!")
