I was listening to Radio Russia, (channel 135 if you have xm radio rotates
international stations) very interesting stuff. They were joking about the
missile situation in Europe. Russia is installing full missile defenses in
Iraq  and has assured them that the Israelis and the US will not be able to
attack  their nuclear facilities, meanwhile Obama has agreed to pull missile
defenses  out of Europe meant to defend against Iraqi missile strikes at
the request of  their President. They thought their president was brilliant
in
fooling the  American amateur President. They also thought it very funny
that the US is  openly investigating the CIA, saying it is a glorious black
eye for the US in  general and will cripple their intelligence. They also
noted Obama declassified  the expense records for our CIA and other Spy
organizations yesterday and were  quoting numbers. Supposedly 200,000
employees in
total with 75 billion in  spending per annum. They were stunned a major power
would reveal this to the  world. This particular station is broadcast all
over the world. The Australian  station later that evening hit on the same
points, perhaps not as nastily, but  interviewed leaders in Germany, Poland,
Czech Rep and other countries about the  US "abandonment" and got anger and
befuddlement from them all over the decision  to pull promised defenses.

Sure have.  Also  got a draft copy of AZ legislation amendments, lots of
amendments on  bio-terrorism and quaranteeing US people etc.

funny, when you read the  law, it makes one wonder why people with AIDS
weren't  quaranteed.......

I have signed my dad and myself up for a do it yourself class at the local
college for Oct-Nov also.

I suspect the classroom part will be utilizing purchased components, but that
is OK.

My first goal is to get the basics:  freezer, fridge and well water on solar:
the basics needed growing and storing food.

Then the computer equipment and possibly having electric burner & heater as a
backup if LP becomes an issue

Subject: Re: [Homestead] solar

I was looking into this recently, though I was thinking more about chaining
together a bunch of pre-buitl panels with a battery bank and power inverter,
I didn't even realize you could build your own. Seeing the site say that you
could build a panel for less than 100 bucks made me break out my google
skills and search for the secret. Of course as soon as I searched for "diy
solar panels" my eyes were opened. Now I'm going to have to brush up on my
soldering skill as well.

Thanks for the thought provoking link. Now back to lurking.

Precisely my point, Drew. For some reason this country is so egotistical
and hide bound that they can't seem to open their eyes to the fact that not
everyone thinks the same way they do.

Our population, goes "Oh, how sweet, the prez and his fashion challenged
wife are having a couple's night." The rest of the world is looking on and
thinking who gives a dead rat's patooty, that's not what he gets paid for.
And, saying what can you expect from someone running around playing rock
star and going on shows like Leno and Letterman.

Lynda
"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we
are
to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and
servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." Theordore
Roosevelt, 1918.
