Civilized? Not rude? If it's the first, then "civilized" countries take up arms, even internally, all the time.

If you mean "not rude," well, I'd say this country has never been not quite rude. Advanced egotism, which is the basis of the way Americans think of this country, has always been alive and well.

And, since we can only gather peacefully as long as we are allowed to, and only as long as the agenda is o.k.'d by whatever/whomever, then I suppose what you say is true. HOWEVER, I would question that since fire hoses used against peaceful demonstrators is not my idea of civil. Nor are billy clubs, night sticks, pepper spray and rubber bullets. All things that have been used rather frequently, rarely reported, here in this country.

Ah, the last time part of this country got tired of being jerked around, taken advantage of and lied to (wow, that sure sounds familiar) is when thousands died and it was all about $$ and Wall Street AND taxes, contrary to the rewriting of history that public schools are so good at teaching!

Oh Pecker of the Great Ape, this isn't Afghanistan where people have
to bring guns to political gatherings to protect themselves. We are
still (seemingly barely) a civil society where people can assemble
peaceably. Is there something about civility that bothers you?

The last time this country gave up civility and took up arms, hundreds
of thousands died. Is this where you want to go?
