Yes, I had raised beds that I turned with a shovel and a spade fork. With
the soil, lay of the land, good gardening, I felt that raised beds were the
best for my situation. I also had a small crawler for turning the compost
pile.

That is why this technology vs non or low tech gets silly at times. We each
make decisions based on our own experience, resources, capabilities, and
desires. I understand machinery and can keep it working so I use it.
Others have problems so avoid its use.

In woodworking there those self described Neanderthals who will not touch
anything with a power cord. They wax endlessly about the virtues of a quiet
shop and long curls from a well tuned pre war Bailey. On the other hand
there are those who must have every power tool Norm Abram has ever touched.
They counter with the limited shop time and the need to get something done
fast. Who is correct? Neither and both. A tool is just a tool, be it a
30-30 rifle or a Bailey No 6, or a Porter Cable Plunge Router. All have
their uses.
