OK, here's a new one to banter about.... this just found LA-Times.
The gist of this one is a case somewhat along the lines of that issue that
came up in that beauty pageant, about whether or not people can express their
personal opinion about traditional marriages and whether or not by stating
their opinion and someone find it offensive is the offense actually sexual
harrassment, etc.
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2009/07/college-sexual-harassment-code-struck-down.html
My personal opinion is that if one side is allowed to be a proponent of their
opinion, persons with opposing views can also be a proponent of their
opinion, regardless of hurt feelings when others disagree.

Wow - I had BCBS of FL for some 20+ years, both under individual policies
when self-employed, and for a while as a perk when an employee.
I never once had a problem with them, for any kind of claim, whether filed by
the doc's office, or in the case of my physician who wouldn't deal with ins.
co's, I filed myself.
When my son was killed, he had just 3 weeks earlier gotten a temporarily
individual policy while he was waiting for approval on the permanent one.
The temporarily had a lifetime beneifit max of $1M, the permanent on $2M.....
The temporary policy was completely maxed out while he was in the trauma
center.... and then some. The effective date of the permanent policy was 1
week after, so they didn't pay out on that policy. There was ZERO hassle on
them paying out the $1million max.
'Course the hospital was out $, and dishonestly attempted to get me to sign a
piece of paper that would have been a fraud against the government.... NO
DEAL! But I bet a lot of others who don't read get tricked into their game
and unknowingly commit fraud against the gov't. The fine print specifically
stated that if you had private insurance you are not allowed to sign the
paper they pushed in front of me. I made the pushy clerk arguing with me to
sign or else (or else what duh...) in front of me get a supervisor.... the
supervisor back pedaled real quick after I let themselves hang themselves for
a while and then dropped the bomb on them about the BCBS policy.
Anyway, my own experience with BCBS of FL was excellent. I have overheard
some locals complaining about BCBS of NM, so maybe different from state to
state.

Wow.
Our battles are also with BCBS. We pay $600/mo in premiums and still
have a fight. We first got 'pre-approved', then after the service was
rendered, refusal to pay saying it was not covered...after that was
settled they said the doctor was not in the network...after that was
settled(I had POS so there was no 'network'), then no referral, but
again our plan did not require one, and meanwhile my account will be
going to collections and we don't have the money to pay it all at once.
Don't get me wrong, I pay my bills, but we would not have made the
claim and gotten the service had we known of the hassle it would be to
get the insurance just to do what they are contracted to do.
We have two separate claims we are battling in a similar way. One of
the claims is only $230, which we could obviously pay if we did not have
to chunk out $150/wk.
I'm not under any kind of illusion that BC is the only insurance company
using these tactics.

This all reminds me of an article written by a former Prez of the KKK that
was published in the Readers Digest Magazine some 30+ years ago... The Prez
was telling his story, but the most important part was the reason why he
resigned as the Prez and completely quit the KKK. He had discovered that the
race wars are used by politicians to keep people fighting amongst themselves
instead of looking at the politicians.
Makes me think Prez is trying to deflect attention elsewheres.....
For anyone who wants an interesting but long read.............make sure you
get to the end before judging the beginning.... ;-)

Simply more race baiting. Do folks not realise that when they scream race
about every little thing that pretty soon you have the Peter and the Wolf
thing going on?
Is racism alive and well. You betcha! Was this racial profiling. NO! And
his lawyer buddy knows damn well it isn't. Being sent to look for a
specific identity type is not profiling and his lawyer buddy knows it. He
was most uncomfortable when asked about lawsuits!

I do remember grandma having Lava in the bathroom as a kid.... hmmm maybe
that is why they had that in the bathroom all the time.
But that wasn't the name of the soap. It was something I hadn't heard of
before. I suppose before I go shopping, I'll ask her again and write it down
! LOL

Me too,,,,,,,,, I have had too major contact dermatitis episodes
already......... The worst seems to be the sunflower leaves, and after that
all of the curcubits........ Mom says there is some kind of bar soap that
they used to use on the farm for that.... I've never heard of it, can't
remember the name now, and hopefully will remember it when I get around to
going shopping.
Makes me itch like crazy, then the redness and swelling, and of course
anywhere I touch, I potentially spread it........

Sealed. You couldn't get one marked 2007 without big court action. I know,
BTDT and still can't get the original.
As to using the last name, only citizens (he would have had to be adopted to
be a citizen without a long drawn out procedure, 5 years) can attend some of
the schools in Indonesia. He attended one of those schools and in his
school records he is listed as a citizen.
