I always pay cash for vehicles too, Lynn. But I believe we are the exception, not the rule. If a young man desiresd to work but has no money, he will borrow the money for the car to become a worker. If his pasrents can afford to give him the car, things are a little different. Think of your friends and acquaintances, don't most have a car note? I believe I posted a while back, from a source I can't remember, that well over 60% of all U.S. households have to make a monthly car >payment................

Many of my friends drive old vehicles, because most of my friends are poor. I think that will start to become more common. No one NEEDS a new car. People need a way to get from one place to another...an older car serves just as well as a new one. A simple car gets you there just like an expensive SUV with GPS and a DVD player to entertain the kids (what ever happened to just looking out the window and playing 'punch buggy' like we did?). Too many people drive cars they can't afford and live in houses they can't afford, and own too much junk they can't afford. I think the day of reckoning is coming for the uber-consumers.
