These items are part of our "food" storage.?? We rotate toothpaste, but have
quite a stash on hand, also toothbrushes, razors, hair bands, and other
common toiletries.?? I even have some cigarettes and cigars, to use as barter
for the addicts around us.?;-)

Thanks Lynn for what you said below.
It would be nice to discuss how we will do things right now and not worry
ourselves with what "might" happen.
So does anyone have an answer to what I might use for toilet paper when I do
not have the gas or money to get to the store to buy some??
What about tooth paste, right now I make my own from baking soda and salt
but I
can't provide either of those ingredients on my homestead. Ideas???
As for SS, I have to believe there will be some. At 73 + years I think I can
safely say that I will not be able to find a job! Due to a long string of
poor
choices in my misspent middle age all I have is SS. Question for James,
without
a certain amount of cash dollars how would you pay your property taxes as you
reach your older years?
Living on as little cash as possible is working for me now and is a challange
I
am having fun with. Of course as one gets older they begin to realize just
how
few material things they need.
Besides a few good friends are worth much more than lots of money in the
bank!
Having money for the internet is high on my list of priorities as a reason to
have some income but I don't suppose I would die without it.
Just my thoughts on what is important to me at this moment in time.

Gene; I share your frustration. This "the sky is falling", "things are
going
to go bad", invisible boogey man stuff bothers me. I prefer a problem that
I can look in the face and DO something about. But I don't think anyone has
any answers. No one knows what is happening with the economy, so no one can
say what to do.
Some email lists have gotten all 'survivalist'...get a gun and hide out,
and
other lists are just business as usual, with no mention of the economy.
This
list seems to have more reasonable discussion of the economy than most. If
you find anyone with any answers, let us know!
By the way, Gene; you've always been the heart of the Homestead list. You
were here when I first signed on 13 or so years ago, and you've always been
the voice of reason here.
