Bev; You know I love you, but for someone who doesn't want to bring
race into it, you bring race into it an awful lot. You've painted
blacks with a pretty broad brush...do you really think that anyone
assumes they don't have to work anymore because Obama will save them?

I know they that! The are saying that! I see it! It is happening now.
The you tube people are real! Do you not have a black community at all
up there? White people don't seem to be buying into this, but blacks
are. Why?

I was touched on election
night at the pride I saw among blacks.

As was I. The older generation especially, people who lived through the
civil rights era were most especially proud and moved. I was happy for
them, too.

I watched that video of the woman who
"didn't have to worry about putting gas in her car or paying her
mortgage". What I saw was someone who had hope; she thought that
finally someone who might give her a little break was in office. I
can understand that;

What you are failing to see is that a lot of people believe that
literally...people, some black people, honestly believe that Obama will
save them financially. I did not see the video but I don't have to as I
have seen similar stuff on TV and heard people talking in real life.
She was dead serious...she wasn't joking or using hyperbole. When I was
at Walmart on Tuesday afternoon, our cashier looked tired, like she had
been on her feet, and in making conversation with her, she volunteered
that she was nearing the end of her shift and that she couldn't wait
until January, because as soon as Obama was inaugurated she would be
quitting her job. At the nursery, I heard a black guy tell a Hispanic
guy that the only reason he was working was because he was afraid that
someone would kill Obama before he took office. Do you not hear daily
conversations like that? Are there zero blacks where you live?

I also
don't feel that anyone was fighting for me for the last 8 years. I'm
hoping that Obama can stop some of the extreme socialism that has
been extended to the rich and to corporations, with the bailouts and
tax loopholes. I didn't vote for him, but I'm willing to give him a
chance.

Have you ever felt that a President was fighting for you? I haven't
ever felt that anyone in federal government was on my side. I don't
think..I may have to retract that later, but I can't think of ever
having felt that way.
