Well, we get Southern Californians who come up here "to see the snow" and then come to a full stop in the middle of the road because "oh, I thought you only got those colors in Vermont." And, you'll see them pulled off to the side of the road because the signs all say "4 wheel drive or chains required beyond this point." AH, stupid, that means when there's snow on the ground! CalTrans turns the signs around to face traffic or flips them up, which ever, as soon as we get our first snow warning.

And then there was the lady in the store the other day. She moved here from Maine and was complaining because it was 20 degrees. You could just about hear her from one end of the store to the other "but this is California. I moved here to be warm." Well then lady, you shouldn't have moved somewhere called the Trinity ALPS! Didn't the word "ALPS" give her a clue?

This area is full of what my son calls "halfbacks." These are northerners
that moved to Florida then moved half way back. He says they cannot drive
in any case then he launches off into the people who come down to look at
the colors and stop in the middle of the freeway.

He learned to drive in no snow California but spent time sliding around the
desert so has no problems in the snow. His California born and raised wife
on the other hand is fearful of the snow and ice.
