To define socialism as such, would spread the definition to three people
talking, or 4 people attending a meeting of the society of friends or a book
club. We are primates, therefore we are social animals.
We have, before, on this list, discussed the different vague definitions of
political and economic socialism. It is a transition point between
capitalism and communism, at the simplist meaning.
Remember, the gov't that now funds and controls the libraries, can decide
what books to order for those libraries . They can, and do, decide what
books are best for you, your children, and your grandchildren to read.
'Socialism' as is most commonly meant, is ultimately not about community
good ,instead; it is about control.
Socialism, as a word, might give you libraries, but that same word, so
defined, gives you warrantless, no-knock searches; police planted GPS bugs on
your auto; Homeland Security with its medusa of evils, and , of course Barney
Frank and friends rewarding rich failed bankers at the expense of straight
players who had actual success.
Be careful for that which you wish, "By the pricking of my thumbs,
Something wicked this way comes. " .....bobford
**** “I am a humanist, “which means, in part, that I have tried to behave
decently without expectations of rewards or punishments after I am dead.” .
