One summer I spent a year in Raleigh, and only met a couple of people
who were not from New York. (I was working on a nuclear waste proposal
project, which -- like every other nuclear waste project I ever worked
on -- failed because the locals didn't want the stuff within 4000
miles. And that was just low-level stuff.)

The area is certainly unique. In Cary, there was a little sushi place
where a coworker and I pigged out at company expense and ended up with
a bill of $74.47, a number I remember because it had the same numerals
as my birth day. It was good sushi though. (And you wondered why it
costs so much to dispose of nuclear waste?)

Marie, who would be for nuclear power except for the niggling problem
of what to do with the waste
