It is like when Obama said that he had been to all 57 states, but hadn't made it to Alaska. Or, when McCain confused sunni and shia. They are both memorizing so much stuff it is hard to know when they are just talking faster than their thoughts (or lines). With McCain, we know he is knowledgeable about foreign affairs; with Obama, we assume he is as intelligent as we've been led to believe. So far, I think it is just verbal flubs. ..........bobford

Unless I misheard, Obama made two verbal slips in the debate. The last one was when he said "country" when he meant "world." I don't recall the first one but I believe it was something similar--everyone knew what he meant.

Bob says it about as I see it. These guys have been making so many talks and memorizing so much stuff that sometimes their mouth muscle memory goes on autopilot. I remember when I was flying around doing TV shows, radio shows and book signings, I sometimes forgot what city I was in. Multiply my twenty or so cities by a few hundred for these guys.

I do wonder why someone has not cured McCain of "My friends, . . ." preceding every other sentence. Makes him sound more senile than I think he is.
